Why you Are Feeling Your Dentures Loose?
It’s true that the teeth in a denture wear down over time, but more often than not, it’s the shape of your jaw that changes. As your body changes, so does your mouth. Significant weight loss contributes to the natural shrinkage of the gums and the underlying bone.
In this case, your dentures - which previously fit perfectly - may become loose, unstable, and start to cause painful sores. At our clinics in Laval, we offer simple and effective solutions to correct this issue. It may be possible to adjust your dentures without having to replace them entirely.
Denture Relining, Refilling, A New Customized Solution
If your denture is still in good condition but lacks its original snug fit, a denture reline is highly recommended. This process involves resurfacing the tissue-side of your denture so that it accurately matches the current contours of your mouth.
- The Process: We carefully apply a new layer of high-quality pink acrylic resin to the base of your existing denture.
- The Benefits: This custom adjustment fills in the gaps caused by gum shrinkage, securely restoring your denture's grip and preventing it from slipping while you speak or eat.
Soft Linning: The Ultimate Cushion for Lower Dentures
Lower dentures are often the most difficult to stabilize, as the lower gum is generally narrower and more sensitive. To address this issue, we recommend adding a soft base.
This is a therapeutic cushion that is built directly into the base of your lower denture.
A soft liner is exactly what it sounds like: a built-in, shock-absorbing cushion applied directly to the bottom of your denture.
- Shock absorption: The soft base acts as a cushion between the hard acrylic denture and your sensitive gums, significantly reducing pressure and pain while chewing.
- Superior adhesion:This specialized material has a slightly porous texture. This unique feature creates a suction effect, allowing it to adhere much more effectively to the gums and significantly increasing the stability of the appliance in the mouth.
